Activities

As a follow-up to our LTTA exchange in Latvia, the students of 5 Biowe headed to the Hasseltsbos in Geraardsbergen on Monday, March 31, accompanied by Simon Huylebroeck and Fien Philips. After a sustainable journey by bike, they put into practice the knowledge gained during the LTTA to Latvia, Gulbene.
Throughout this educational day, the students learned how to identify native tree and plant species, with special attention given to the ‘Bosanemoon’ and its various growth stages. Just like in Gulbene, they measured tree height using the ‘Borman-stick’ method. Their research didn’t stop above ground—by drilling into the soil, they also explored how deep the groundwater lies.
In between fieldwork, there was time for a sustainable refreshment—freshly pressed organic apple juice—and the day ended around a cozy campfire with a self-roasted snack. A meaningful and memorable experience on ‘natural resources’.

The Romanian team, who participated in the mobility to Latvia, shared their experiences and learning outcomes with students and teachers. During this session, they presented key takeaways from the activities focused on the theme “Natural Resources .” Using photos, and interactive discussions, they highlighted the importance of preserving natural resources, promoting sustainability, and making environmentally conscious choices. The students and teachers who attended were inspired by the practical ideas and insights, and the event sparked meaningful conversations about how small changes can make a big impact on the environment.

On March 27th, the Romanian team participated in the competition ”Made for Europe”, which showcases the final products of projects funded through European programs.
We proudly presented the Activity Book for Teaching Sustainability, the comprehensive and engaging resource designed to help educators incorporate sustainability concepts into their lessons. Our project was recognized for its creativity, educational impact, and practical application, earning us 3rd place in the competition. This achievement highlights our commitment to promoting sustainable education and fostering environmental awareness among students.

We are delighted to share our participation in this year’s European Researchers’ Night, where we had the opportunity to promote our Erasmus+ project It’s Time. The event provided an excellent platform for engaging with a broad audience, including researchers, students, teachers, and the general public and a great step in disseminating our project and strengthening its impact.
Our stall attracted significant interest, with many visitors eager to learn more about our sustainability initiatives. The presentations and discussions helped us connect with people concerned about environmental issues and willing to change their daily habits. We also received valuable feedback and made important connections that could lead to future collaborations.
